I was in for a great treat at a new place along Jalan Ampang here in the city located nearby KLCC named SOULed OUT Ampang. I just love the interior and the deco of this newly born restaurant, to be precised its their 2nd outlet, the famous first in Sri Hartamas. The invitation came very handy as I get the first peek of the place, loved it. Very chick and yet kept to full of simplicity. Lots of wood came into play, from table to wall paneling to the ceiling.

The place was modeled after the ever popular SOULed OUT in Sri Harts, the new Ampang premise promises more than a warm hug with its pleasant twist in ambient experience whilst retaining the charm, warmth and fun of the original Sri Harts outlet. It positioned itself as an eclectic outlet that caters to the masses, it caters for that simple family dinner or drinks with the boys to a boisterous office bash.

SOULed OUT Ampang is designed by international designer Ed Poole who upped the ante on the brief for a neighbourhood café. I found the comfort of my second home. With uique and arresting features are the shadow pillars, majestically greeting patrons at the entrance, bakau poles that line the ceiling, teak butcher blocks as table tops, bar top and the staircase landing. A pastel palatte of customised chalkboard shelving displays predominates at the main foyer and bar. The use of designer chairs that the place a casual yet stylish atmosphere which definitely my pick and liking.

D SOULed OUT has always been known for their comforting soul food and here the Ampang outlet also boasts of 4 kitchens; Western, Asian, Northern Indian and the pizzeria. Ever favourites such as Fried Beef Noodles, Sang Har Mein, Chicken Cordon ‘BLURR’, Sizzling Lamb Cutlet, Sheekh Kebab and Sake San Pizza are all to be found along with new additions like a selection of Gourmet Sandwiches, Spicy Shepherd’s Pie, Beef Espetada and Nicoise Salad, just to name a few. Complementing this will be a great selection of thirst quenching beverages with the highlight being cold, cold beers. Also available are signature cocktails such as the Classic Mojito and Lychee Martini, wines, spirits and a neat potpourri of detox juices such as the famous Dragonfly juice. Just perfect.

“We are still very passionate about our business after 15 years. The SOULed OUT brand is very special to us and we have been very selective about choosing the right location for the next SOULed OUT. Ampang is the ideal neighbourhood; it’s almost in the heart of town and it’s a convenient spot for our patrons who work and live in this neck of the woods” explains Fred Choo, owner and Commander-In-Chief.

We had a great time our the place and food, we had my favourite Sake San Pizza plus lovely soup, salad, delicious mains and ends with a delicious Lava Cake with melting ice cream . . . . . . . . definitely my new hangout place definitely be my regular after work stop over, Sidney Kan :)
